At Sunnyside Academy, personal development is central to our ethos. We aim to nurture the whole child, equipping pupils with the knowledge, skills, character and resilience to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Our approach is guided by our Trust’s STARS values:

These values shape our school culture, creating a safe, inclusive and inspiring environment where all pupils feel valued and empowered.
We are a trauma and attachment-informed school, embedding understanding of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), Proclaim and Thrive. This ensures pupils’ emotional, social and academic needs are supported and respected.

What do our children say?
“People listen to your problems.”
“It’s amazing and safe.”
“Everyone who needs help, gets help.”
These statements reflect the impact of our trauma-informed, values-driven approach, where every child feels seen, heard and supported.
At Sunnyside Academy, our personal development offer ensures pupils leave school resilient, responsible and respectful, prepared to succeed in education and life beyond school.
